Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Curated Index (“we”, “us”, “the platform”) collects, why, how it’s stored, and what rights you have. It applies to curatedindex.tv.

What data we collect

Account data

When you register, we collect:

• Your name
• Your email address
• A securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text)
• Your country (optional, if you provide it)

Profile data

If you choose to add it:

• A bio
• A website link
• A profile avatar image
• The professional category/categories you select (e.g. Director, Editor)

Content you create

• Videos you submit (we store the title, description, category, tags, and a link to the video hosted on Vimeo or YouTube — we do not host video files ourselves)
• Credits you add to videos (who worked on them, and in what role)
• Comments you post on videos
• Likes and follows
• Collections (“moodboards”) you create
• Claim requests, if you request to take ownership of a profile

Data about people who haven’t registered (“unclaimed profiles”)

When a user credits someone on a video (e.g. a director, editor, or colorist) who doesn’t yet have a Curated Index account, we automatically create a placeholder profile for that person so the credit is accurate — this is similar to how a film database might list a crew member’s name even if that person has never visited the site. This placeholder typically contains only a name.

If you are such a person and did not create this profile yourself: you have the same right to have it corrected, claimed, or deleted as anyone else. Contact contact@curatedindex.tv and we will remove the profile (or the personal data in it) on request, or help you claim it as your own account instead if you’d prefer that.

Communications

We send transactional emails for:

• Account confirmation and password resets
• Notifications (e.g. someone credited you, liked your video, commented, or followed you)
• Claim-related emails (invitations to claim a profile, confirmations, approvals)

These emails are sent via Resend, our email delivery provider.

Technical data

• Your IP address may be processed briefly by our security services (e.g. Cloudflare Turnstile, used to prevent spam and automated abuse on public forms) but is not stored by us in our own database.
• Standard web server logs (e.g. via our hosting provider) may temporarily record IP addresses and request data for security and reliability purposes.

Cookies and analytics — Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site (e.g. which pages are viewed, how people navigate between pages). This is not enabled by default — a cookie banner asks for your consent before any analytics cookie is set or any data is sent to Google. If you decline, no Google Analytics script loads and no analytics cookies are set.

You can change your choice at any time via the “Cookie preferences” link in the site footer.

Google Analytics data may be processed by Google outside the EU/EEA. Google acts as a data processor for this purpose under its own data processing terms.

We do not use advertising cookies or third-party ad trackers.

Why we process your data (legal basis)

• To provide the service (your account, your profile, your submissions) — necessary to fulfill our agreement with you when you create an account.
• To keep the platform secure and prevent abuse (e.g. spam prevention via Turnstile, rate limiting) — our legitimate interest in running a functioning, abuse-resistant service.
• For analytics (Google Analytics) — only with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• To send you emails related to your account and activity on the platform — necessary to operate the service you signed up for.

Who we share data with

We use the following third-party services to operate Curated Index. Each acts as a data processor on our behalf:

We do not sell your data to anyone.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account and profile data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within a reasonable time, except where we’re required to retain certain records by law.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data (most profile fields can be edited directly in your account settings)
• Delete your data (“right to be forgotten”)
• Export your data in a portable format
• Object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Withdraw consent for analytics at any time (via “Cookie preferences” in the footer)

To exercise any of these rights, including requesting deletion of your data, contact us at contact@curatedindex.tv. This applies whether or not you have a registered account — including if a placeholder profile was created for you by someone else (see “Data about people who haven’t registered” above).
